Fine Art & Illustration
My art explores the human condition and the natural world. I am fascinated by the depth, complexities and details in all things.
My work is mostly figurative; juxtaposed with shape, tangible texture, and layers of depth in variety mediums. These include oil on wood, gouache and watercolour often incorporating mixed media and metal leaf.
I create work with a range of subjects, including the natural world and our place in it, symbolism and the psyche.

Oil paintings
Oil is one of my favourite mediums - the richness of colour, the almost endless layering, the depth of interest and texture that can be achieved, as well as the ability of oil to adhere to almost any surface - such a rich and versatile medium!
Watercolour and Gouache
The immediacy and mutability of watercolour is what makes it such a wonderful medium to work with.
Graphite and Charcoal
Drawing and sketching with graphite pencils and with charcoal is such an immersive, meditative experience. I love that it can range from a detailed drawing that takes me months to complete to a quick 5 min figure drawing in a coffee shop.
